The New Year has already brought a lot as far as Malawian music is concerned. Urban artists have been releasing new music every week since December. Other artists have went on to announce on Facebook and Twitter about releasing projects in the near future.

Organizations that promote Malawian talent have contributed a lot to making what has come to become a very interesting and entertaining industry. The organisations are not only promoting talents but also creating interactions between musicians and their audience through social media. Mikozi network is the most popular page promoting Malawi music.

Zotentha 5 is a list of five best urban songs that have been circulating in the country for the month of January. These are the songs that are on top of charts on music websites and have had topics about them buzzing on social media.

 

5. Zitheke by Eli Njuchi

It is an inspiring song about how young people hustle to make lives better. The song was produced by Blage and Sispense. Eli Njuchi has been outstanding since he rose to fame in 2018. He performed at last year’s lake of stars.

4. Makofi by Phyzix featuring Dare devils

Rap is a tool artists use to express how they feel. This song is a very energetic response that Phyzix made to his critics. Makofi was produced by stich fray and Marcus. The Dare devils work for ghetto gutter entertainment founded by Fredokiss. The song is legendary.

3. Maloto sang’amba by Manzy

Dreams can never be deleted even if you try to delete contacts in your phone, you still think about your loved one. The Message that the song brings. It made a lot of noise during the festive season at many events and people keep requesting it on radio stations. The singer’s real name is Emmanuel Kambanje and he goes by his stage name Manzy. 2.     Ndizifinyika by Twin M

Produced by Jay Emm. It became a hit the same week it was released. Gospel artist Emmie Kankweche took a 30 seconds video singing along to the song. Twin M is a duo of twin brothers, Aaron and Andrew Masauli. It is also known for making other hits ‘pasa ine, single(feat Black Nina)’.

1.    Nelia by Saint

Nelia has been enjoying airplay since its release last year November. The song found its way back on top of Charts With the release of the Nelia video earlier this month. The song was produced by OBK & Sispense and the video was directed by Sukez.
