Prayer is not only about talking to God. It is also about talking to yourself. Prayer is one powerful means that God has given us to access his attention and to build ourselves in Him. When we speak to ourselves, and to God, we position ourselves to encounter His power. David knew this secret:

Psalm 23:1 (GNT) The Lord is my Shepherd; I have everything I need.
Who was David talking to in this famous Psalm 23? Himself! Was it a prayer? Was it praise? Emphatically, yes! By speaking to himself in this way, he was subjecting himself to the Lordship, to the love, and to the provision of God. And that is what prayer does.
When we speak to ourselves, we are in meditative mode. At that moment, we are authentic and worshiping in truth. That is why it is easy to connect deeply with God’s spirit as we pray this way. Make this your daily practice!
