Lilongwe, Mana: Silver Strikers  Saturday suffered another 1-0 defeat at the hands of Mighty Tigers in the TNM Super League played at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

Silver Strikers couldn’t carry their goal scoring form from a week ago when they were able to hold Nyasa Bullets to a 2-2 draw at BNS.

Captain of Tigers, Masiya Banda broke the deadlock in the second half to give Tigers the lead. Silver Strikers kept the pressure pushing for an equalizer to no avail.

Goalkeeper of Tigers Innocent Nyasulu had an outstanding game that saw him notch the man of the match award.

In a post-match interview, Coach of Silver Strikers, Leo Mpulula said that it was unfortunate and unsatisfactory that they couldn’t get the right results.

He remained optimistic to finish within top four.

“I have no reaction it’s sad that we have lost the game therefore we shall go back to the training ground and try to improve. Its how football is we can’t compare how we played against Nyasa Bulletsto our recent game with Tigers.”

“Dreams of a top 4 finish are still alive, it’s not over until it’s over, we can’t throw in the towel lets cross the bridge first,” Mpulula said.

Coach for Tigers, Trevor Kajawa hailed his troops for carrying out the game plan as he stressed that they shall surely not be relegated.

“It was a tough match, Silver is a good team and so I had told the boys to be defensive and go on the counter attack. It was not easy to defend that lone goal especially with how early we scored in the second half.”

“We shall not get relegated, the teams below us will not catch up as our focus is now to finish the next games strongly,” he said.

Kajawa said that he didn’t give his team a specific target for this season but rather focused on simply building a team that can compete come next football season.

Drama transpired during the post-match interviews as Silver Coach, Mpulula was hesitant to give his English interview after having given his Chichewa interview stating that the Media had spent inconsiderably a longer time with the Tigers Coach.

As per custom, interviews are first done with the losing Coach and then proceed to the winning coach.

Silver Strikers are seventh on the log table from 26 games with 39 points while Tigers are 11th with 31 points from 28 games..
