Blantyre, Mana: Chief Executive Officer for Swift Capital, Deliwe Makata has emphasized the need for Malawians to have knowledge on financial management before putting the money into any investment.
Makata made the remarks on Friday at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre during a seminar on financial management.
Speaking to Malawi News Agency (Mana) after the seminar, Makata said the event was organized in a bid to equip individuals with knowledge and skills for effective and informed money management decisions.
“It was an event filled with inspiration and provoking knowledge from individuals of reputable descent in the finance arena, speakers made engaging presentations ranging from budgeting, managing debt, savings and investments to build wealth to have financial freedom,” said Mataka.
She added that 70 percent of the participants were youths which shows willingness from the youths to have knowledge on how to earn money and invest in it.
Mataka said plans are underway to organize another seminar on how to empower women financially.
“Women should expect a power pact conference of more than just inspiration, but insights on what it means to be a financially empowered women and what that looks like to the nations economic growth,” said Mataka.
Chisomo Jeweza, a student at Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (Mubas) who is yet to graduate, said she has learnt on how to earn money and invest which will help her i the next five years.
“After I saw the poster, I was interested to attend the seminar for my own financial benefit, indeed I have learnt a lot on how to earn money, how to invest it so that my next five years’ plans must be successfully done and to have friends who are able to share financial knowledge,” said Jeweza.
