Inspirational Quotes for the WEEKEND

By Dr Charles Leyman Kachitsa

All living things are created to experience growth. It is a normal that all living things have to grow, all things being equal. Where this is not the case, it points to underlying problems most often to do with other elements such as adverse environmental factors. Otherwise, growth is expected in all parts of the thing that is living.

Humans as living creatures experience growth from the very moment of conception. growth which in certain quarters is referred to as development is more visible and can be verified in humans from that very first stage. Though most people associate it with tangibility, growth in humans also take the intangible form that of development in mind and soul. In referring to maturity, people normally point to the intangible aspect of the person’s mind.

For progress to manifest, it is very important for individuals to identify the areas of growth in all aspects of life. Although growth is natural it has to be nurtured, channelled to be more functional and positive. For the mind, it is even critical that the growth be more controlled and appropriate to sustenance of a positive life for self and others. You have to take positive action to hedge progressive life development. Growth must not be feared but it must be productively embraced.

The quotes this week are a first extraction from a book that aims to shade light on entrenched paradoxes and misunderstandings about what human progress entails. I am sure that the selected few quotations listed below from this book will enlighten you to one or two life lessons. Read and enjoy:

LOVE ADVERSITY & BLISS by Dr Noel Maturlu

“In the face of adversity, there is an undeniable yearning yearning for meaning, purpose, and fulfilment. Throughout history, humans, including African descendants on the continent and in the diaspora, have navigated immense challenges. The legacies of slavery, colonialism, and racism have left deep scars that still affect millions today. Yet, amidst the hardship, there exists a profound opportunity for spiritual transformation and growth – a path toward a blissful life.”

“Growing up in one of the poorest parts of my country, I was exposed to the harsh realities of life from an early age. I saw the devastating effects of poverty, chronic diseases, and the daily struggle to survive. These challenges left a deep mark on me, shaping my fears and desires. As a child, I was terrified of pain and death but longed for a life filled with love and prosperity.”

“I vividly remember the moment that shattered my world. I was on a church ministry trip in Africa when I received a call from my then – wife. Her voice was calm but firm as she informed me that our marriage was over and that she was filing for divorce. The news hit me like a thunderbolt. I immediately cut my trip short and took the next flight home, desperate to salvage what was left of my family. I did everything I could for the next three years to save my marriage. I fasted, prayed, sought counselling, and even engaged in sacrificial giving, hoping God would intervene and restore what was broken. Despite all my efforts, my marriage ended, leaving me devastated and questioning everything I had believed in.”

“Throughout history, and particularly through the Judeo-Christian lens, the fates of African descendants and Jewish people have been remarkably intertwined, marked by cycles of prosperity and decline, displacement, slavery, and periods of profound suffering. Both peoples have experienced these fluctuations, rising to great heights only to fall into times of hardship before rising to even greater heights again.”
