Chilima applauds NICO Group for their developmental efforts

Lilongwe, Mana: Vice President,  Dr Saulos Chilima has hailed Nico Group Holdings for their continued efforts in developing the country through different initiatives evidently seen in Lilongwe.

He made the remarks at the One Nico Golf Tournament that was concluded in Lilongwe on Saturday at the Lilongwe Golf Club having had first leg of the tournament started a week earlier in Blantyre at the Limbe Country Club.

Chilima said that, “I want to acknowledge the investment that is happening at Lilongwe Golf Club, construction of a Hotel with 180 rooms. The project is in its 24th month and has this far created employment and will create employment in the future while also changing the face of the golf club and Lilongwe as a whole.”

“To the staff members, I urge you to walk as proud people knowing that your brand which is Malawian is making positive impact and NICO group has embraced the gender equality act as we have seen a lot of ladies forming the NICO family,” he said.

Chilima encouraged the stakeholders to be supportive of NICO, Eris Properties and, NBS Bank which is key components if they are to provide the best services available.

General Managing Director of Nico Group, Vizenge Kumwenda said Nico Group was impacting lives and expressed satisfaction with the success of the tournament.

“We are a top company, a high tax payer from where the government collects billions from which are used for Education, Health care and transportation. We are offering employment to over 1,200 staff members.”

“Am very satisfied with the event because we brought our key stakeholders who have a unique contribution to Nico together so that they share their experiences in a relaxed place as well as NICO staff who had the opportunity to showcase to each other how they serve in their departments,” he said.

Kumwenda added that during the COVID-19 season they had introduced a death benefit which amounted to around K 3 billion, with the sole purpose of assisting families whose breadwinners had succumbed to the pandemic.

The Nico Group is the platinum sponsors of the President’s Charity Golf Tournament taking place on October 8, 2022 established by President, Dr Lazarus Chakwera with the sole purpose of rising funds that will assist under privileged students complete their tertiary education.
