Malawi netball star international player, Joyce Mvula was today, Tuesday 19th December 2017 welcomed back to the Thunder family in Manchester, United Kingdom. She is the main shooter of Manchester Thunder Netball club and the first Malawian, African international netball player to be signed by a national league team in the United Kingdom (UK).
This is the second leg of a wonderful association by the international player to star for the Vitality Super League team, Manchester Thunder. Joyce had her first contract with the team from early this year; January to July 2017. She not only helped the team to sojourn into the final play-off of the English elite netball league cup, but she was also one of the exciting players that the Thunder family as the teams fans are popularly called, loved to see in the court.
Apparently her super performance led to her signing the new contract for the coming season 2018 as far back as June 2017. This could admittedly could also have put a rest to her mind going back to Malawi during the league’s recess, well aware of a secure future with the team.
Joyce Mvula left Malawi yesterday, Monday and arrived in Manchester UK, early the morning of Tuesday. She was welcomed to Manchester by Charles Leyman Kachitsa and his wife, Mary. One of the Thunder officials taking care of her welfare Juliet Williams, said she was so excited to see Joyce back in Manchester and look forward to making sure of her comfortable stay whilst she plays for the team.
Asked how she felt being back. Joyce said although in some respect she misses home, she is very happy to be back and is prepared to work harder this coming season. As testament to her determination, she took straight to the training court in the evening of her arrival day. The new season of the Vitality Netball Super League for 2018 starts next month in January and will run as usual for six months.
